Thinking back I have a real fond memory of this scotch. I knew that I was destined to like it as it was a Northern Highlands Scotch. From the Sutherland region of the Highlands, it's pretty much as close to the wayback Scottish ancestors, The Mackays. While the Sutherlands & Mackays may not have always been the best of friends historically, I feel it's the region itself that's important. That was my mindset going into tasting the Clynelish. It proved to be, I think, a deciding factor. I have a really fond memory of this Scotch, and I've been thinking that I should invest in a bottle to keep around. As for my review: for me the word phenolic means that medicinal taste you encounter with certain scotches.
