This is an interesting one. Technically it can't b called a whiskey because it was only aged for 1 year. Its smoked using a mix of apple wood and cherry wood giving it an interesting taste. This tasting came from the July 2011 bottling.
Jim Color: Copper Nose: Ach! The burn! Rye, woodsy, sweet Palate: Chewy gingerbread, kind of musty, woodsy and fruity Finish: Spicy and fruity, more gingerbread/spiced wafer. Interesting flavor overall w/water: No change at all 7.6/7.6 Matt: Color: "Copper" ha! Get it? Nose: Lots of burn, apple, wood, cloves, cinnamon Palate: More hear than anticipated, fresh apples, cherry wood really comes through with a little anise Finish: Musty giving way to peppery spiciness and ginger w/water: I smell...diapers. This completely lost me. Not much difference overall 7.9/7.7 Price: $69.42 Q: Is it worth it? A: At this price? No. This comes from the Master of Malt page though and they are based overseas. You can most definitely find this cheaper here in the states, we paid close to $40 which I still don't know if I would pay again. If you have the chance to try it, go for it but save your money for something better.
