Auchentoshan is a Lowland Distillery outside of Glasgow. It is funny that this was the first to go in our official tasting book. Before this we had tasted, purchased, and finished, a number of different scotches that we never had a chance to review. We had heard of the Three Wood and how good it was from a few different sources. However, it was quite elusive and became our holy grail for a long time. No one within a seventy mile radius had it for sale that we could find. When we finally found it, it was so awesome that it inspired us to start our tasting journal. -J Matt Color: Amber, orange liquer Nose: Orange, vanilla, honey-heather Palate: Candied sweatness, orange Finish: Toasted oak, anis w/ Water: More wood, decent, better without SCORE: 9.5 Jim Color: Amber Nose: Honey, vanilla sweetness Palate: Sweet, nuttiness Finish: Long, toasted oakiness w/ Water: Woody, not bad but better without SCORE: 9.2 Current price: $63.73.
Q: Is it worth the price? A: Oh hell, yeah. This is a top notch Scotch. It is well worth the price. It is one of those scotches that I would like to keep on hand at all times and a good one to have on hand to have friends new to scotch give a try.
